This price applies to the entry-level S Crew Cab 4x2 model. A total of five different grade levels are available (S, SV, SL, PRO-4X, Platinum Reserve). Following the launch of the Crew Cab, the 2016 Nissan Titan lineup will spawn two more cab configurations, another frame size, and two more powertrain offerings. One of those two engines is a gas-fed V8.

Compared to the 5.6-liter V8 of the old Titan (317 horsepower; 385 lb-ft), the new model ups the ante to 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft. A seven-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching technology will be mated to this powerplant. A gasoline V6 will be offered at a later date, but nothing is known about it at the present moment. The wildest rumors hint toward a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder.

For the top-of-the-line Platinum Reserve grade in 4x4 form, the MSRP stands at $60,520. That’s a lot of greenback for a pickup truck, but then again, the most expensive Titan XD undercuts its main rivals by a long shot. Take the Ram Laramie Limited as a case in point: $64,215. As for the heavy-duty offerings from Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC, their workhorses are also slightly more costly than the 2016 Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve 4x4 with the 5-liter Cummins turbocharged oil burner.

Overall, the Titan XD is competitively priced against most half-ton pickup trucks available in the United States of America, and that’s where the meat of the market is. Considering that there’s usually a $2,000 to $3,000 rebate on the Ram 2500 at all times, does the 2016 model year Nissan Titan XD have what it takes to convince you to buy this workhorse over one that comes from an American manufacturer?
