We have to admit, the new Nissan Maxima looked good ever since the first leaked photo reached the internet. Now, the Japanese manufacturer decided to launch it properly, in all its glory, on the New York Auto Show floor.
Even though they claim that the car is vastly restyled we don’t need to take their word for it. However, we can’t deny that it does look fresh from any position you look at it.

There’s a new V-Motion front end now, one that lines-up with other models in the current range, as well as the signature boomerang lights and kick-up C-Pillars.

On the inside, things were taken up a notch too, looking good within the segment. And the Maxima is a good seller in the States as well, so it needed this kind of tech and fit-and-finish to keep up with the rest of the pack.

There’s perforated leather included in the mix as well as quilted seats in the back, as you can see from the photo gallery while the steering wheel now also has a two-tone leather mixture on it.

On the gadget side of things, there’s the new NissanConnect SM system with navigation, including an 8-inch touch-screen display along with SiriusXM satellite radio and travel link.

Safety is of the essence in this car as well and that’s why you get new driving aids such as Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking and even Blind Spot Warning. There are now five grade levels available, the new SL, SR and Platinum grades included.

When can you buy it and for how much?

If you’re a fan of the Maxima, you’ll be disappointed to learn that the press release only said that the car will go on sale ‘early this summer’. Your guess is just as good as ours as to what that means exactly. However, we do have a list of price tags.

The entry-level Maxima S will start at $32,410, and you get the new 300 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine on it as well as the revised Xtronic transmission that has a ‘wider ratio range’ according to Nissan. All we know is that’s marketing talk for the same CVT box.

There’s also the Maxima SV for $34,390, the Maxima SL for $36,890, the Maxima SR for $37,670 and the Maxima Platinum for $39,860. The destination and handling tax is fixed at $825.

Standard features include NissanConnect with navigation and an 11-speaker sound system from Bose, SiriusXM and Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
