2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (EU-spec) Will Make a Debut at Frankfurt 2015

Mitsubishi must believe that what works for Japan will also work for Europe. We're talking, of course, about the 2016 Outlander PHEV, ready to make a debut next month in Frankfurt.

Only two months have passed since Mitsubishi introduced the Outlander PHEV for the Japanese market, and now they're telling (and showing) us Europeans will get the green SUV too.

There are not many changes in terms of outside styling, as the EU-spec Outlander PHEV has the same "Dynamic Shield" front fascia dominating its front end. However, for Europe, Mitsubishi is adding Ruby Black Pearl and Quartz Brown Metallic hues for clients to specify on the Outlander PHEV's exterior.

Also on the visual side, the vehicle brings LED daytime running lights and taillights together with bumper extensions and 18-inch alloys.

Inside, the 2016 Outlander PHEV for Europe will sport, according to Mitsubishi, revamped seat upholstery design and materials. Also, besides "the existing sporty black leather trim, Outlander PHEV is now available with luxurious brown leather trim".

The tech side

Since the model will have to please European customers, it was only natural for Mitsubishi to try and keep NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) under control. However, they've outdone themselves and used 30 improvements, including dynamic dampers and additional layers of isolating material.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV went on sale in Japan in July. There, customers can own one for a starting price of ¥3,211,920.

That's around $26,206 or €22,948 at current exchange rates, but don't think the Europe-bound version to be that cheap. Realistically speaking, expect a price tag similar to what the pre-facelift Outlander PHEV was wearing.

In any case, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander is not coming alone to the Frankfurt party, as its makers will make sure the green SUV is joined by the likes of L200 Double Cab, i-MiEV, Space Star, Pajero, ASX and Lancer Sportback.
