Probably the most anticipated debut scheduled for this year from MINI, the Clubman was just caught with its doors open. Our team of dedicated carparazzi caught it around one of BMW’s testing facilities with the driver out and about it, trying to fit a travel case in the back. This was the perfect opportunity to see the trademark doors in action.
If you’re a fan of the brand, then you already know that the Clubman is that one special model in the range that has a longer wheelbase and body with some rather peculiar doors at the back. They’re barn-styled doors and what they do is basically set the Clubman apart in the auto world.

That’s because they open to the sides, for multiple purposes. For example, this creates a wider opening, allowing you to carry bigger items easier. Of course, a lot of the people who actually buy it just want to have a special car, but it’s nice to know that there is also a practical side to it.

As far as the rest of the car goes, compared to its predecessor, the new Clubman should have an even number of doors on both sides of the automobile and not two on the right side and only one of the left side.

What's interesting to note here is the fact that the rear doors are more inclined than we expected them to be. Sure, they look good but there must've been another reason behind this design. At the same time, the taillights installed on them do look amazing too, a breath of fresh air in terms of design.

Inside the cabin, there should be a little more space as the new model does seem to be bigger in size. Speaking of the interior, it should also have a couple of traits that would set the Clubman apart from its brothers from the MINI line-up.

The concept unveiled by the Brits looked absolutely amazing, but the chances of most of those features to enter production as they were presented are slim, at best. Therefore, you should expect some small differences but the overall layout should be the same.

Under the bonnet though, there will be no such thing. The engines will be exactly the same as on the rest of the range, varying from 1.5-liter 3-cylinder units to 2-liter 4-cylinder alternatives, both on petrol and diesel. We’re leaving out the 1.2-liter choices that are available on the hatch because they might be a tad too small for a car the size of the Clubman.

Expect the new car to be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.
