2016 MINI Clubman Cooper S Spied Testing in the Snow

Rumors had it that MINI will be unveiling its new Clubman model at the Geneva Motor Show 2015 but things aren’t all that simple at the moment. BMW already announced its line-up for the impending event but the Brits are still holding off. Luckily, we have plenty of spy photographers near the Arctic Circle to bring you shots of the car in its current state.

And the current state looks rather good. Come to think of it, this prototype is wearing production lights and everything, seemingly being ready to go on the production line. The headlights seem to be the entry-level halogen-powered model while the taillights follow in the same footsteps.

That being said, our previous shots, of a red model, seem to be showing us what a fully-decked version looks like and those taillights are extremely attractive, with their new design.

It’s a Cooper S

We can also tell that this is a Cooper S model by the hood scoop and the two tailpipes at the back. Those are dead giveaways on any MINI and they tell us that the engine under the bonnet is a 2-liter 4-cylinder B48 unit.

It makes 192 HP and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, plenty for a MINI, even in this size. And we have to admit that the 6-door Clubman looks rather imposing in these shots. The heavy camouflage works well but it can’t hide the two barn-style doors at the back that give this car its flavour.

Don’t expect big changes inside. We’ve caught the Clubman up close and personal in the past and caught a wind of what’s going to change in the cabin but nothing looked even remotely close to the concept that featured impressive materials and a big display on the dash.

The only differences spotted were the air vents that had a rectangular shape instead of the usual round ones we got accustomed to. Other than that, it’s the usual, funky MINI business.

If MINI is planning to bring the Clubman to Geneva, it’s definitely keeping it a secret so far and they might just surprise us. The thing is, the car in the photos looks production ready so we’re guessing that even if we won’t see it in the metal in Switzerland next month, we’ll be enjoying its design pretty soon.
