2016 Mazda MX-5 Gets Tuning Kit from AutoExe in Japan

Th ND generation of the MX-5 is one of the most talked about cars, not only in the US but also in Japan. Because deliveries started much earlier, the tuners from the Land of the Rising Sun were able to sink their teeth sooner than everybody else.

Meet the Miata "AutoExe ND-05" by a local company we've honestly never heard of before. They propose a much more aggressive look for the little roadster. The cosmetic enhancements start at the front with a deep chin spoiler and inserts for the side air intakes. AutoExe has also left its mark on the grille. Because the Japanese like a good light show, an extra set of projectors and some LED strips were inserted.

Things start to get serious when you look underneath the little roadster. For 58,000 yen ($472), you can buy an underbody brace that fits in the middle of the floor pan and adds stiffness. Another 35,000 yen ($285) gets you "Lowdown" sprints that bring the MX-5 20 mm closer to the ground.

Pop the hood and you are greeted by a strut tower brace installed between the top mounts of the suspension and improves body rigidity. The final tech bit is a sports muffler of the car rather than to the right side. It costs 119,000 yen ($970) in combination with a rear under-panel that completes the look of the tail end of things. You can also add a small spoiler if that's your thing.

For those ultra-hardcore fans, there are plenty of smaller parts available, like AutoExe air filters, oil filters, wheel locks, tire vent caps and a lighter track-spec battery. Every little bit helps!
