2016 Lincoln MKX Spied in Production Ready Guise

Lincoln's next generation MKX Concept stunned the crowd earlier this year when it was originally unveiled at Beijing but a lot of people wondered (us included) how much of it will make it to production. Our latest spyshots seem to suggest that a lot of it.

Our spy photographers caught up with a production ready prototype and things are looking good. Only a few things seem to have changed  and they are basically minor in the whole equation of the thing.

A couple of black plastic trims are noticeable on the lower parts of the body, the headlights look bigger and less fancy than the ones showed initially and, of course, we can now see the inclusion of door handles (the concept had none).

All of them seem pretty normal from any point of view you’re looking at it and are there to help the car be actually usable by the customers. Round the back it’s the same story, the production prototype keeping the same design as on the concept. Things are looking good!

The most important bit will be what will hide under the bonnet, though. Rumor has it that we’ll be looking at the same underpinnings as on the Ford Edge and that includes both a 2-liter and a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder mill using EcoBoost technology as entry level choices.

The upper spec variants will most likely be using the new 2.7-liter V6 with around 300 HP. As far as transmissions go we reckon the same old 6-speed transmission will be kept along with all-wheel drive as is expected on this sort of car.

Inside, soft-touch materials will be used along with trims made out of brushed aluminum and touch-capacitive switchgear that are in tune with Lincoln’s latest offerings.

The infotainment will be the same MyLincoln Touch system used at the moment with a Revel audio system which will be the first for the company. Expect the new car to make its debut at Detroit.
