It's not the first time we encountered the new 2016 Lexus LX, but these are the most revealing pictures, courtesy of @hamad1two3. Also, the lack of camouflage suggests we should expect an official launch in the following weeks.
But before official details emerge, let's focus on what we know so far and add some speculation into the mix as well.
As we've seen in previous interior photos, the Lexus LX will offer a modified interior, with changes in the dashboard area, where designers came up with a new center console and a larger infotainment system.
But there are more new elements, including the gear selector and the air vents, which make for a refreshed cabin. Also, the spied model came with a rear seat entertainment system with larger displays, probably to be on par with the dimension increases up front.
That's all for now regarding the cabin, so let's move on to the exterior.
Watching the LX free of camouflage we can tell you one thing straight away: some will like the design, but some won't, and personally, I incline to go with the second category.
The massive spindle grille is where it should be, but Lexus designers overreacted a bit with the headlights that are extended to the back. Then they brought a pair of foglights to the party, to increase the overly-aggressive air of the SUV.
Changes also affect the rear end, where Lexus installed taillights with new details and chrome trim, along with a discrete roof-mounted spoiler.
Now, for the speculation part. The behemoth should hide a 5.7-liter V8 good for 383 horsepower and a max torque of 403 lb-ft (546 Nm), but we'll have to wait for Lexus to confirm that.
Also, on the safety side, the SUV might receive the freshly introduced Lexus Safety System+. We'll keep you updated as new info emerges.
