2016 Lexus LX Gets Sporty Kit from Wald International

The new Lexus LX is probably one of the most underappreciated full-size SUVs on the market. It's bold; it's big, and it's also cheaper than its European rivals. They've made a lot of platform changes, not to mention bringing the styling up to date, but people are still hung up on the fact that it's not turbocharged.

We know what will fix that archaic feeling. How about a good old-fashioned tuning package from one of the best-known companies in the business. Wald International has been making Black Bison packages for decades, but this isn't one of those.

The kit received by the 2016 Lexus LX is called Sports Line. That probably has to do with the fact that some of the trademark Black Bison features are missing. The bumpers haven't been completely replaced, for example, and the trademark LED accents are not added.

However, considering the 2016 LX is so fresh, we think these changes are enough. Starting from the front, we have the most obvious feature, a chin spoiler that protrudes several inches outwards. It's got a silver blade in the middle and little winglets on the side - that's basically everything you don't want on an off-roader. But who cares.

Down the sides, we see that fender flares have been added. They feature cutouts at the back to mimic vents and include inserts for the doors. Trim pieces for the handles and side skirts have not been forgotten. You can also order one of Wald's many custom alloy wheels and even option a new brake system with 8-pot calipers for a healthy 861,840 yen ($7,871).

Finally, we arrive at the tail of the car, where we see a new insert for the bumper, a spoiler, and some silver trim pieces. The full kit retails for 421,200 yen ($3,845), which doesn't include shipping or installation. We think it's worth it. If you can get your hands on suck a kit, there's not going to be another SUV like your LX570 in your city.
