As they promised a few days ago, Lexus made the best out of this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and unveiled the 2016 Lexus LX 570 in Monterey.
Although we're not talking about a new model, the refreshment level on this one is high, so let's dig in and see what the LX has been up to.

Lexus claim they "left barely any surface of the LX 570 untouched in a sweeping upgrade for 2016, with only door panels carried over from 2015."

At the front, designers came up with a one-piece spindle grille, surrounded by satin chrome trim and complemented by distinctive new standard LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights.

The taillights and the rear bumper receive subtle retouches while the SUV now sits on new 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels or the optional bespoke 21-inch 10-spoke rims.

There's more than meets the eye in terms of new stuff brought by the facelifted Lexus LX 570. The biggest change under that sharp-edged body is a new eight-speed automatic transmission coming to replace the former six-speed gearbox for better performance and efficiency.

Drivers also have the Drive Mode Select feature at their disposal, which, as you probably know from other Lexus models, allows the LX 570 driver to tune powertrain and suspension responses by using a dial on the console. You can choose from ECO, COMFORT, SPORT S and SPORT S+.

Speaking of powertrain, under the LX 570's hood reigns the same 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 383 horsepower and delivers 90 percent of its 403 lb-ft (546 Nm) peak torque at 3,600 rpm.

Towing capacity is set at 7,000 lbs (that's about 3,175 kg for those living across the pond), so your boat or ATV don't have to be home alone while you and your family are out on holiday.

The cabin experience

Inside, the biggest addition is the new 12.3-inch display with Remote Touch Interface (RTI) and menu shortcut buttons on the side of the screen. Also, the screen can be split into three sections to show different functions, such as navigation, audio and climate control information.

On the visual side, the interior is embroidered with Matte Walnut, Linear Dark Mocha, Linear Espresso and Dark Brown Walnut wood trims. The same goes for the wood-rimmed steering wheel, which receives a new three-spoke config with chromed accents and black leather.

The cabin is also imbued with LED ambient lighting that continues into the cargo area and larger 11.6-inch screens for the rear seat entertainment system. Also, Lexus offers their freshly-launched Lexus Safety System + as standard equipment, including features like Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Intelligent High Beam (IHB) and All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
