2016 Lexus ES Presents Itself With a Bolder Spindle Grille – Photo Gallery

Unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier in 2015, the Lexus ES facelift is now available in US-specification, and the updated spindle grille is the main visual makeover of the Japanese full-size sedan. The Kentucky-made 2016 Lexus ES is offered in ES 350 and ES 300h guises, starting at $37,700 and $40,580, respectively.

What's new for 2016, you're asking? As stated beforehand, the chrome-trimmed spindle grille is bolder than that of the pre-facelifted model. The redesigned front fascia is also enhanced with LED headlights. Around the rear, we have L-shaped taillamps and a semi-integrated exhaust system. Four new colors are offered for 2016, namely Caviar, Autumn Shimmer, Nightfall Mica, and Eminent White Pearl.

On the inside, the Japanese manufacturer's full-size sedan can be beautified with Linear Dark Mocha wood, Illustrious Piano Black wood or Bamboo with a matte finish. A Mark Levinson Premium Sound system and a panoramic roof are available with all option packages. In terms of connectivity, Lexus Enform Remote and Service Connect are on the menu. As a bonus, the RTI controller gets easier to use “ENTER” buttons.

What about safety? We're much obliged to tell you that Lexus Safety System+ now combines Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Pre-Collision System, High-Speed Dynamic Cruise Control, and an Intelligent High Beam feature for extra piece of mind for the driver. It may be just a front-engined and front-wheel drive luxobarge, but the 2016 Lexus ES isn't too shabby in terms of what's under the hood.

If you go for the 2016 Lexus ES 350, you will be able to enjoy a smooth 3.5-liter V6 engine with 268 horsepower on tap, channeled to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The more eco-conscious way of going the ES way is the 2016 Lexus ES 300h, which combines a CVT transmission with a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-banger and an electric motor for a combined output of 200 horsepower.
