At laaast, carmakers as starting to show us real pictures of their new models. Kia are among the first manufacturers to break the ice in that respect, after dropping the first official photo of the upcoming Kia Optima.
The all-new Optima is bound to make a debut next week at the 2015 New York International Motor Show and we’ll have to thank that for the mysterious aura used by Kia up to this point regarding the sedan’s debut.

Coming back to the main topic, we’re pleased to see - and so will you - that Kia did a good job in keeping a bunch of design cues from the Sportspace Concept before handing them out to the 2016 Kia Optima. However, we can only say that about the front end, as this is all we get from the picture that recently hit the world wide web. Also, there’s a Toyota Camry-ish look on that face from where we’re standing but we won’t dwell on that for now.

All we get from Kia in terms of specs is that the new 2016 Optima will be “available with multiple engine choices, [...] a more spacious interior, class-up premium features and a number of technologies not previously offered on Kia's best-selling mid-size sedan."

The ‘Tiger Nose’ front grille is still there, but we really like how Kia came up with a fresh approach, without wandering too much into aggressive styling and exaggerated sporty character. After all, we’re talking about a sedan here, one that will serve families, not competitions on the race track.

We’ll get back with more intel on the 2016 Kia Optima as the sedan will make its appearance on April 1st, in New York.
