Initially introduced as the Infiniti EX35 back in 2007, the entry-level luxury crossover is now at its second generation. Renamed the QX50, guess what the 2016 model adds over its predecessor. 3.2 inches (8.1 cm).
I am so not joking about that intel. The 2016 Infiniti QX50 press kit begins with “features longer wheelbase, larger interior.” Made in Tochigi, Japan by Nissan Motor, the QX50 boasts with a single engine-tranny combination and a choice between rear or AWD.

A familiar 3.7-liter V6 aluminum-alloy engine delivers 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft (362 Nm) of torque. That’s a tad less get-up-and-go than the similarly engined 370Z, so performance is at home with the 2016 Infiniti QX50. Cog-swapping duties and taken care of by a 7-speed automatic overdrive transmission.

"Even as Infiniti is getting ready to significantly expand its product portfolio in the next few years – including production models based on the Q30, Q60 and QX30 Concepts – we're also making significant enhancements to our current lineup," declared Randy Parker, vice president of Infiniti Americas.

Interestingly, the Japanese marque is keeping quiet about how many pounds the 2016 QX50 has. Then again, to bring weight into a luxury crossover’s equation is like a beautiful melody with the lyrics all messed up. On the aesthetic front, all is familiar yet all has been enhanced. Things like the front and rear bumpers, double-arch front grille, LED DRLs and side sills have been mildly redesigned to label it a 2016 model year.

In terms of overall length, the revised QX50 is 4.5 inches (11.43 centimeters) longer than the model it replaces. Last but certainly not least, Infiniti is offering four 2016 QX50 packages: Premium, Premium Plus, Deluxe Touring and Technology.
