Infiniti has been selling Q50 sedans with 2-liter turbos made in North America for a while, but only in Asia and Europe. 2016 finally brings turbocharging to the most popular executive car Infiniti sells in the US. In fact, nearly the entire range is going to be turbocharged later this year.
A 2016 Q50 2.0t with rear-wheel drive and a 2.0L engine making a little over 200 horsepower will set you back $33,950. Once you add $905 for the destination and handling, you end up with a fantastic $34,855 price. Why is it fantastic? Because a C-Class is almost $39,000. The BMW 320i costs about, but Infiniti offers more space.

We wonder who's going to buy the crammed CLA-Class and Audi A3 sedan now that the 2016 Q50 has a turbo engine. If you want all-wheel drive with your turbo, it will cost you another $2,000. The cheapest C-Class, which is the C300, has more power from the same 2-liter engine. But we've got a video down below that should prove the 2.0t is good enough. Fuel economy for the Q50 2.0t RWD is rated at 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, 8-way adjustable leather seats, dual-zone climate control and the Infiniti InTouch infotainment system.

Going up to the Q50 2.0t Premium means you'll get a heated steering wheel, 14-speaker Bose audio (standard has 6 speakers) and standard moonroof. However, the price goes up to $38,555.

Later in the year, the Q50 will get a 3-liter twin-turbo engine with several power outputs, starting from 300 horsepower. However, the 2016 Q50's only other engine is the carry-over hybrid system that uses a 3.5-liter V6 and delivers a respectable 360 horsepower. But because it starts at $47,955, it cancels the fuel economy gains.

The Q50 Hybrid features a gasoline-electric hybrid, which remains unchanged from the previous year and gets up to 34 mpg. It is now offered in only one trim level, Q50 Hybrid Premium, which includes additional standard equipment and revised packaging. This includes 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Backup Collision Intervention® (BCI), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) and Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD).
