In production since 2012, the third-generation (DM) Hyundai Santa is one of the manufacturer’s better-selling models. A contender in the ever-changing world of the mid-size crossover SUV segment, the Santa Fe is due an update. Without further beating around the bush, here is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Courtesy of TheKoreanCarBlog, the adjacent duo of photographs tells us what’s what and we like what we’re seeing. It isn’t far-fetched to declare that Hyundai took inspiration from the 2016 Hyundai Tucson and the soon-to-debut 2016 Hyundai Elantra.
Starting with a more fluidic front grille, the appearance of the headlights, front bumper and fog lights has been modified as well. The redesigned front bumper is mirrored by the rear unit.
Speaking of the rear fascia design, the exhaust tips are shared with the 2016 Hyundai Tucson and the rear lights have been altered to further enhance the appeal of this crossover. And yes, that’s a 3.3L V6 badge.
Though chances to the cabin are impossible to tell from the adjacent photographs, the peeps from KoreanCarBlog expect a modernized infotainment system and a choice of new trims. Slated to debut later this year, the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe will also employ a 2.4L GDI, a 2-liter turbo, and turbo diesel power too.
An interesting bit of news is that a hybridized Santa Fe is slated to be launched early next year, boasting an electric drive module dubbed “e-4WD.” What that means is that the petrol engine up front will power only the front axle, while the electric motor at the rear will animate the rear axle, hence the e-4WD moniker.
