Not many things are known about the new 2016 Hyundai Elantra, but Hyundai's PR arm took its time to reveal a teaser photo of the sedan, so let the speculation games begin.
Hyundai officials claim the style of the new Elantra places the Korean compact saloon "in a class of its own".

We don't know about that, but it's safe to wait until we get the chance to see the model in the metal before having a serious conversation about its looks. After all, what we see in the picture above is just a design sketch from Pixel Land, so there's no point in pushing forward with styling-related talk.

However, we should add there's a tiny drop of Jaguar XE in the Elantra's front end design, thanks to the large hexagonal grille paired with slim headlights.

Here's how Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer at Hyundai Motor Company sees the new Elantra from a visual standpoint:

"The subtle and innovative appearance enhancements reflect Hyundai Motor’s vision for design. Furthermore, this car indicates a move from traditional to modern styling by communicating the new model’s comfort, fashion and sporty feel.”

Under the hood, Hyundai engineers might place an all-new 1.6-liter T-GDI turbocharged petrol mill, just like they did with the new Hyundai Tucson. In theory, the engine should serve the driver with 176 horsepower sent to the front axle through a six-speed automatic gearbox.

This transmission is available as standard, but clients can opt for a newly-developed, efficiency-oriented seven-speed gearbox with a dual clutch.

We know it's too early to talk about deliveries, but the new Elantra should arrive at dealers in March 2016, if the model will indeed by launched as rumored, during this year's Los Angeles Motor Show scheduled to begin in November.
