From the handful of design sketches acting as teasers for the new Hyundai Elantra, we drew an obvious conclusion: the model looked more German if we look at its styling cues.
And now we can confirm that. In fact, you can see it with your own eyes, as the first leaked photos of the new Hyundai Elantra are starting to emerge on the internet.

The pictures you're about to see surfaced on Auto Tribune, a Korean car website, and they tell a pretty comprehensive story about the Elantra. While you proceed to the photo gallery, keep in mind you'll see the Korean-spec Elantra, which on the KDM (Korean Domestic Market) goes by the name of Avante AD.

However, the design approach shouldn't differ too much from the version we'll get in the US. Speaking of which, we could see the new Elantra making a debut in Los Angeles, at this year's LA Auto Show.

Coming back to the pictures in question, there are plenty of influences from the Genesis flagship, but the squared shapes become too sober at times, reminding us of some Volkswagen models.

Inside, there's a touch of Audi or Seat - at least what's what we can see from where we're standing - in the sense that Hyundai opted for a simplified setup, with fewer buttons and a straightforward dashboard configuration.

We're still waiting for Hyundai officials to tell us more about what the new Elantra will receive under the hood. Until that happens, we believe the sedan will be fitted - among other choices - with a 1.6-liter T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine, the same found under the hood of its brother SUV, the Tucson.

The engine should be good for around 175 horsepower redirected to the front wheels. Clients will also be able to choose between a six-speed auto gearbox and a theoretically more efficient dual clutch seven-speed tranny.
