Husqvarna unveils the 701 Enduro machine, the off-road-focused version of the 701 Supermoto recently introduced. The new motorcycle seems to happily combine the extra grit of the bigger engine with Husqvarna's traditional off-road prowess.
The 701 Enduro is largely based on the Supermoto version, so the customers getting at the helm sort of know what to expect. This includes the elongated seat that protrudes through to the radiator area, the ribbed cover that adds extra grip, and the interesting plastic rear subframe that also incorporates the fuel tank.

Chromoly steel tubes were used to build the trellis frame and give 701 Enduro a neutral weight distribution. WP Performance supplied closed-cartridge 4CS forks specifically engineered for the bike. The 275mm travel forks are complemented by a fully-adjustable WP rear monoshock and comply with the rigors of hard off-road riding.

The Husqvarna 701 Enduro comes with an A2 mapping

One of the things we were thrilled to find out is that the new Husky is suitable for beginners. The 701 Enduro can be supplied with an A2-compliant engine mapping that restricts the power to 30 kW and thus makes the bike beginner and law-friendly.

This is a really smart move from Husqvarna, as it will draw more customers who might otherwise decide to fork out money on other bikes. After becoming fully-licensed, these fellows will be able to unlock the full potential and enjoy the off-road world anew.

Husqvarna 701 Enduro comes with 21" and 18" DID rims, Continental TKC80 tires, off-road ABS, Brembo brakes and hydraulic slipper clutch. The 67 hp peak power figure was retained in unrestricted trim, most likely with the 6-speed gearbox and the switchable maps that adapt the engine response to the terrain particularities.

The Husqvarna 701 Enduro will become available in November this year in Europe and from February 2016 in the US and Canada. The retail price is to be announced.
