In the car industry, history teaches us that once a batch of photos is leaked on the internet, the carmaker will respond by unveiling the model online.
It goes the same for the facelifted Honda CR-Z, which we saw earlier this week courtesy of a set of pictures. Truth be told, the car's styling got us very excited, as we hoped the sporty new approach to the exterior design would be reflected in the car's engine and performances.
However, it's not the case because the CR-Z uses the same powertrain as before the revision. As you all know, that means we're talking about a hybrid system wrapped around a 1.6-liter engine tasked with delivering 130 horsepower, in tandem with an electric motor.
If it makes you feel better, Honda says the upgraded JDM-spec CR-Z is fitted with larger disc brakes that now measure 15 inches instead of 14 inches as before.
Inside, passengers will benefit from Honda's active noise cancellation technology. Since we've opened the cabin subject, we'd also like to add the fact that the CR-Z's traditional parking brake has been replaced with a new, electric one, just like we saw in the spyshots we were talking about earlier.
Other new amenities include a touchscreen audio display and a new sound system that's been equipped with an engine amplifier so that those inside will be greeted with false acceleration sounds. But that's no biggie, others are doing it as well.
On the outside, the hybrid gets a new front grille that will tickle every fan's fancy, the fog lights seem to have grown in diameter while the wheels benefit from a new design. Also on the menu is a new set of LED headlights, but those are exclusively offered in Japan.
There's no word yet on when the car will reach US shores, but we expect that to happen in the following couple of months. We'll keep you up to date with the latest developments on this matter.
