In the United States, the Ranger is no longer at the top of the mid-size pickup truck segment, mostly because it’s no longer on sale. In other parts of the world, though, the Ranger soldiers on.
The 2016 Ford Ranger is now the subject of one of the coolest tuning jobs we’ve ever laid eyes on. Cue the beefed up M-Sport Ranger, the creation of a British motorsport outfit that’s branched out into tuning. Slated to go into production from September 1, 2016, and available in select Ford dealerships across the United Kingdom and Europe, the M-Sport Ranger starts life as a Ford Ranger 3.2 TDCi 4x2 Double Cab.

What you’re looking at is, when all is said and done, a smaller take on the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. Mods include the obligatory more badass front bumper, black plastic cladding on the wheels arches, an aggressive rear bumper, and nderbody protection. Look closer and you’ll spot matte black decals on the door handles, side steps, wing mirrors, and tailgate.

The exterior makeover is completed by Lazer lights integrated into the front grille and roof cover, black graphics for the taillights, two-tone wheels, and black bed bars. Once you step inside, the M-Sport Ranger welcomes you with a sports steering wheel and black leather on the door cards and seats.

It’s a genuinely nice place, but then again, this pickup truck is fitter for off-road duties. In this regard, M-Sport has equipped this workhorse with a lift kit from Pedders suspension and a sports exhaust system with two outlets.

M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson is chuffed to bits about this thing: “The M-Sport Ranger is the latest edition to the range and it looks as though it will be just as successful as its predecessors – with the same high-quality finish and drive that we have come to expect from our colleagues at Van Sport and Carlex Design.”
