Just as the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro prepares for its grand unveiling on May 16th, the Blue Oval will open the 2016 Ford Mustang’s ordering books on May 11th. Coincidence? I suggest to postpone the nitpicking for another time. The biggest threat for the 2016 Mustang comes in the guise of the 2016 Camaro’s GM Alpha platform. According to our estimates, the base Camaro weighs less than 3,502 pounds. In European money, that’s 1,588 kilograms and, when compared to the 2015 Ford Mustang in EcoBoost automatic guise, that’s 22 lbs (10 kg) less. With the 2016 Ford Mustang, FoMoCo’s focal point wasn’t a diet, but more bounce to the ounce. Have a guess what changes are coming. Nope. In terms of paint jobs, Shadow Black is replacing the 2015 model year’s Black. More oomph squeezed out of the four, six and eight-cylinder powerplants? That’s wishful thinking. The most important update is Ford SYNC III infotainment, but Mustang6G forum member Five Oh Brian cleared some things up for us. The GT lineage will benefit from the California Special Package (GT/CS)
Tick that package from the 2016 Ford Mustang options list and you’ll most likely get special badging, chrome bits and bobs, GT/CS stripes, unique rims, a subtle rear spoiler, redesigned front and rear bumpers and special cabin trim.

In addition to the previously mentioned, Five Oh Brian mentions a “Black painted roof” option. Cool, but not as cool as the “Yellow Jacket” interior color available for both leather and Recaro seats and “some sort of accent stripes.” Now, what about that 520+ HP 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang?
