After the civilian-grade Dodge Charger full-size sedan entered the 2016 model year, the 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit followed, and the highlight of the latter is a laptop-sized touchscreen. Yep, that's a 12.1-inch infotainment system there. Now imagine the Charger cop car with an ever bigger screen.
Although there's no chance of getting a bigger screen in the near future (such as the 17-inch unit of the Tesla Model S), just look how massive the damn thing is. We can't say that the screen integrates perfectly with the dashboard, but let's not forget that this is a no quarter crime-stopping Mopar you don't want to mess with.
The ginormous Uconnect infotainment on the center stack is five times larger than the Pursuit's standard 5.0 system for a reason – it was designed purely as a piece of tactical hardware. The 1024 x 768 pixel display features the ability to toggle to an officer's laptop for... police duties and stuff like that. The 12.1-inch touchscreen can be operated with gloves, even in temperatures as low as -40°C. For penguins, -40°C is cocktail-sipping summertime weather in Antarctica.
"As America’s high-performance police vehicle, Dodge Charger Pursuit is going big for 2016, offering a massive, Uconnect touchscreen system that streamlines a law enforcement officer’s computer system with our easy-to-use Uconnect system – on an all-new laptop-size 12.1-inch touchscreen display,” said Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis.
Uconnect 12.1 introduces features such as the Drag and Drop Menu Bar, Siri Eyes Free, and Do Not Disturb. Other changes operated to the 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit include better ergonomics designed into the police car's controls. Other than the hi-tech infotainment system, the 2016 Pursuit is animated by a big V8.
The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 under the hood unleashes 370 horsepower and 390 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque through a 5-speed automatic. The best-in-class get-up-and-go is complemented by "the segment's most advanced all-wheel drive system." With all this technology and sheer muscle onboard the 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit police car, a quote from Dirty Harry comes to mind: "Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya, punk?"
