Between April 23 and 25, Michelin and the National Corvette Museum will kickoff the 2015 NCM Bash. I know - yawn, yawn, yawn. But this event isn’t just a Corvette enthusiasts’ nirvana, but also the place of debut for the 2016 Corvette Stingray. Wonder what updates come with the 2016 model year C7 ‘Vette?
According to a report published by Rick “Corvette” Conti of Coughlin Chevrolet in Ohio, the ordering guide isn’t out yet. Nevertheless, Rick decrypted a number of RPO codes, and he found exactly what Corvette enthusiasts were expecting: no bump in output for the Stingray and Z06, but other add-ons.

Rick mentions that it all boils down to “subtle changes and no reason to regret a 2015 purchase.” No further beating around the bush then. The first thing you need to know is that the 2015 Corvette Z06 will get at least a special edition dubbed C7-R Special Edition.

As for the 2016 Corvette Stingray Coupe, we’re in for the addition of Addiction Red Tint Coat exterior paint and an all-new Yellow hue, labeled RPO G1E and RPO GC6, respectively. In the convertible’s case, we will be getting new colors for the tops, baptized Night Shadow Blue and Bastille Red. Rick believes that at least one of these chromatic additions will fructify as a special edition 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

Looking through GM’s internal order system, Rick of Coughlin Chevrolet found out that two-tone seats are in the cards, joined by optional yellow or red stitching. An interior color combination known as Spice Red is going to be added too, together with red seats with suede inserts and black seats with suede inserts. The 2016 Z06 will come as standard with a Twilight Blue interior.

A rather curious RPO code comes in the guise of B92 “Carbon Fiber Hood.” It’s believed that B92 is actually the code for an exposed carbon fiber hood. Whether this will happen or not, only time will tell.

Meanwhile, the new Stealth High Gloss Carbon Ornament and a new Fusion Gray Hood Stinger Stripe decal for the hood don’t need any further detailing. Furthermore, we’re told to look forward to a full-length satin black stripe package and a 2016 Z06-only decal package.

At long last, the final two RPO codes. EFR “Exterior Trim Carbon Flash” and EFV “Exterior Trim High Gloss Spectra Gray” is what they’re called. Fingers crossed the 2015 NCM Bash will clarify all the murky details...
