The first purpose-built 2016 COPO Camaro will be auctioned off on January 29 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, with all the money being given to United Way.
Jim Campbell, US Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsport, stated that interested buyers will have a special opportunity to purchase the first sixth-generation COPO Camaro while also supporting a great cause. “This is a special opportunity to purchase the first of the sixth generation, 2016 COPO Camaro while also helping such a great cause.”

The COPO race car made its world debut in November 2015 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas and was specifically designed to compete in NHRA Stock Eliminator Class. It comes with a unique look created by Chevrolet and NHRA Funny Car driver Courtney Force, and it features Red Hot exterior color with Courtney Face-signature graphics and red-accented grille trim.

I was extremely honored to work with Chevrolet and help design the 2016 COPO Camaro. The bright red color and the signature slash marks towards the back of the car bring a part of my Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car to the COPO Camaro, which I think is really cool. The proceeds from this car go to a great cause and benefit the United Way, so it’s an awesome project all around,” said Courtney Force.

Under the hood, the car packs a 350 racing engine with a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger. The car comes with an extensive variety of race-spec equipment, such as a chrome-moly roll cage, lightweight racing bucket seats personalized with the COPO logo and Courtney Force’s signature, five-point safety harnesses, a floor-mounted shifter for the THM-350 automatic transmission, racing gauges and a competition switch panel.

The car gets its name from the Central Office Production Order system used in the 1960s for fleet managers to order unusual combinations of options, and it’s built by hand.

The COPO Camaro joins the other Corvettes and the first ever Chevy Bolt that also went under the hammer to support a good cause.
