Hennessey says that it has built the first 2016 Camaro SS that goes over the 200 miles per hour mark. Considering these folks made something that could outpace a Bugatti Veyron, we are inclined to believe them.
In any case, the famed tuners of American muscle have put together a video that shows what reaching supercar speeds in a Camaro is like. The brand new Jaguar F-Type SVR high-performance coupe has roughly the same top speed while costing several times more than a Camaro.

The 2016 Camaro SS features a 751 horsepower version of the LT1 V8 engine. Even with that much power, you can't go 200 miles per hour at the drag strip, so Hennessy took the 2016 'Maro to the Continental Tire Proving Ground in Uvalde, Texas. This 8.5-mile high-speed oval track is the perfect place for maxing out a car.

There's a bit of a mystery surrounding the engine that allowed the 2016 Camaro SS to reach 200 mph. If you visit their website and click the story about this record-breaking event, it details the HPE750 supercharger kit running 7psi. However, the engine in the video doesn't have a pulley and John Hennessey talks about the HPE600 kit.

So we think the speed was set with a naturally aspirated engine fitted with racing cams, headers, and air intakes. The final 150 horsepower comes from two Nitrous Oxide tanks in the trunk. It sounds insanely good at full roar and racing driver Brian Smith deserves props for using the manual gearbox.

You can tell that Brian is not satisfied with his record and Hennessey edited the bit where he asks to do another run out of the video. Considering the company makes a 1,000 horsepower kit, we suspect the Camaro will one day reach 210 mph or more.

Without Nos, the HPE600 will do 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds and has an estimated top speed of 185 mph. The kit includes the following parts:

• CNC Ported Cylinder Heads ports- Competition valve job, extensive flow testing, chambers milled to desired cc.
• Lightweight hollow stem intake valves, exhaust valves.
• Extreme duty dual valve springs.
