Now at its fourth generation, the Chevrolet Tahoe is as versatile as full-size sport utility vehicles get for the US market. To keep it neat and fresh, the golden bowtie-branded sibling of the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon has recently received a few updates for the 2016 model year and all of them are welcomed.
After it debuted for the 2014 model year as an all-new generation, the Chevrolet Tahoe immediately became a hot-selling item for the automaker despite a notable price increase over the third-generation model. For the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, General Motors deleted three options: the Crystal Red Tintcoat and White Diamond Tricoat paints, joined by the AM/FM audio system with a CD player. So what’s new in terms of RPO changes?
The deleted exterior hues are replaced by Siren Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. While we’re on the subject of changes operated to the exterior, you may want to know that all trim levels now comeas standard with hapless fuel fill and system and the Theft Protection Package adds a lift gate shield.
Unfortunately for prospective owners, the Hydra-Matic 8L90 8-speed automatic transmission, nor the Cadillac Escalade’s 6.2L L86 ECOTEC V8 mill. As a consequence, the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe and, if we’re not mistaken, the yet-to-be-detailed 2016 GMC Yukon will retain the 5.3-liter L83 V8 and Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed automatic.
Moving on to changes and additions operated inside, the Enhanced Driver Alert Package now features power-adjustable pedals, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Alert and IntelliBeam headlamps. The latter bit of kit was introduced late last year on all Cadillac models and automatically turns the high-beam on and off according to traffic conditions.
Even though the Chevrolet Tahoe lost its ability to play CDs, customers gain a better audio system (known as RPO code IO5). Sirius XM Satellite Radio with HD is now labeled under two RPO Codes: U2K for Sirius XM Satellite Radio and U2L for HD Radio. A head-up display (HUD) and a reconfigurable gauge cluster with multi-color enhanced graphics are the last mentionable highlights of the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
