Since Chevrolet set the date for Spark’s premiere on April 2nd, it is only natural for fans and media outlets to be kept on their toes with teaser photos. Which is exactly what Chevrolet is doing right now.
The 2016 Chevrolet Spark was already spotted all the way up in South Korea where Chevrolet is most likely going to build it. There’s no secret that its European cousin - the Opel Karl / Vauxhall Agila - will be built on South Korean soil so we’re pretty temped to say that the next-gen Spark will have the same fate.

But the two models share more than the Changwon facility in terms of production. The new Spark will be based on its peers from across the pond, but it will retain the rear door handles mounted near the C pillars from the ongoing model.

On the inside, the 2016 Spark will make us of a FWD chassis while the hood will most likely host a couple of three-cylinder mills. One sure shot is the 1.0-liter EcoTec engine good for 75 HP but the Adam Rocks might jump in and lend its 1.0 EcoTec 115 HP unit.

Karl and Viva are available exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox which should be also adopted by the new Spark. If this happens, the city car will only sip 4.3 liters per 100 km (55 mpg), but GM might also equip the 2016 Chevy Spark with an optional CVT.

The 2016 Spark should have similar dimensions to his relatives on the Old Continent, meaning that the car won’t be longer that 3,680 mm, with a wheelbase of around 2,385 mm.
