Available as a hatchback or sedan, the Chevrolet Sonic is entering the 2016 model year with small updates. Chevy’s subcompact nameplate is still a hot seller despite its age, the reason why an all-new generation is slated to spawn an all-electric model with a range of about 200 miles (322 klicks).
A solid fact regarding the Sonic’s sales volume comes in the guise of the 93,518 units sold in the U. S. of A. last year. For the 2016 Chevrolet Sonic, the golden bowtie decided to delete two exterior colors (Ashen Gray Metallic, Black Granite Metallic).
In terms of new hues, both the sedan and hatchback Sonic models gained Nightfall Gray Metallic, Mosaic, Black Metallic and Kinetic Blue Metallic.
Deletions also include the Manual Equipment Group from the Sonic LTZ model (sedan and hatchback), two types of 17-inch wheel finishes, Dragon Green Promotional pack and AM/FM stereo with CD/MP3 playback.
In their place, the Chevrolet MyLink radio (with OnStar 4G LTE) comes as standard and the 17-inch deleted alloy wheels finishes are replaced by three new designs. The 2016 Sonic also benefits from a wheel locks kit and a instrument panel storage bin liner.
Curiously enough, the Advanced Safety Package is now called the Driver Confidence Package. If buyers opt for the Dusk Package, the 2016 Sonic can be had in a single shade of gray - Nightfall Gray Metallic.
Compared to the 2015 model year, the 2016 Sonic LT sedan with the manual and 1.4L turbo four-banger makes do without the rear floor mats. Last but not least, LT and LTZ models with the stick shift and turbo-four engine change their fuel tanks from the former 12.2-gallon (46.1 l) tank to 10.8 gallons (40.8 l).
