According to the Bowtie brand, the visual changes were done using ‘advanced lighting technology’ whatever that means. To us, right now, it sounds like they simply shed light on the car from various angles and tried to come up with a fresh shape but we’re pretty sure we’re just being mean.

To be more precise, the new Chevy has deeper grille inserts, turn signals and brake lamps that wrap around the corners of the truck and chromed horizontal grille elements as well as black ones if you prefer it so. The Z71 models are more a one-color option, with the trims done in the same color as the body of the car.

No matter if you go for the Z71 or not, the overall feel of the car is of a more muscular body with a better looking front fascia.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto await inside

Step inside the cabin and you’ll be greeted by the new optional MyLink system that is now supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also included are more safety features and convenience ones such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist, and IntelliBeam high beam assistants.

Wireless phone charging is available for LT and LTZ trims in both double cab and crew cab models while bucket seats are standard on High Country.

The 8-Speed gearbox is available for the 5.3-liter V8 as well

The big news, however, is that the 8-speed gearbox is now available on one more model. Since there are only three engine choices available, you’ll be glad to learn that the famed unit will be available as standard on LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country Silverados with either the 6.2-liter V8 or the 5.3-liter one.

The engine outputs haven’t changed and basically everything’s the same except one transmission option. The standard 4.3-liter V6 engine is rated at 285 HP and 305 lb-ft (414 Nm) of torque, being claimed to be the torquiest of any standard V6s in the segment.

The 5.3-liter V8 has 355 HP and 338 lb-ft (458 Nm) of torque and can return 23 mpg on the highway, being the most fuel efficient V8 in any pickup while the 6.2-liter V8 still has 420 HP and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) of torque.
