Chevrolet Cruze is that model that gave automotive journalists headaches as they tried to decipher Chevy's emoji-written press release.
So, as your memory kicks in and you begin to remember what car are we talking about, allow us to tell you someone imagined the 2016 Cruze in hatchback configuration, a variant that was available for the previous Cruze generation.

That someone is Theophilus Chin, who used his pixel-bending skills to show us a potential variant for a Cruze hatchback. Rumors out there are suggesting Chevy will follow-up their Cruze sedan with a hatchback iteration, but no official words have come out so far.

The biggest 'threat' for the Cruze hatchback would be the clientele's interest in such a car. Will clients appreciate the sedan more, or the curvy rear end of the hatchback, and it's reduced storage capacity?

It's tough to tell, but if a 2016 Chevy Cruze hatchback ever sees daylight, expect it to inherit the same bag of amenities available for the sedan. By amenities, we mean ten airbags, disc brakes on all corners, 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot, and a rearview camera offered in standard guise. Naturally, the engine range would be directly carried over from the sedan.

That would mean that the Cruze hatchback could be fitted with the 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo unit with 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque, managed through a six-speed manual or a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic.

We'll keep you posted with fresh details in case Chevy decides to allocate a hatchback ego for the 2016 Cruze.
