The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro has been around since May 2015, dual-mode exhaust system and all. As it’s often the case with performance vehicles such as the Camaro, the aftermarket scene can do better as far as noise is concerned.
Borla Performance Industries is the latest tuning outfit to have a go at making the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro louder and the answer is yes, Borla succeeded in doing so. Exclusively engineered for the 6.2-liter LT1 V8-powered Camaro SS models, the Borla ATAK 2.75-inch exhaust system is the loudest you can get.
According to Borla, “the patented and race-bred ATAK muffler technology, for example, delivers the highest decibel level available in the street-legal Borla lineup. It provides the most aggressive exhaust notes that are still acceptable for residential driving.” After playing the demo video below, I can’t argue with that.
However, some people don’t want the pomp and circumstance of the Borla ATAK. In this regard, the tuner offers two less aggressive exhaust systems developed specifically for the Camaro SS: the Borla S-Type and the Borla Touring. To boot, the customer has the last word in terms of mid-pipe and resonator options.
All systems are available for cars specified with or without the dual-mode exhaust. For cars equipped with the stock configuration, the Borla ATAK costs $887.99. For dual-mode models, pricing starts at $1,792.99.
“We’re always excited to add more systems to our product lines – especially for the Chevy Camaro. Borla has been committed to American-built cars from the beginning and has exceptional knowledge of the Camaro brand,” said David Borla, the vice president of sales & marketing at Borla Performance Industries.
If you have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo or a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 powerplant under the hood of your 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, fret not. “We will have new exhaust products for the V6 and four-cylinder turbo models available soon,” assured Mr. Borla. For the keenest and rowdiest Camaro owners out there, the company will soon bring to market long-tube headers and a 3-inch header-back exhaust system.
