Those of you imagining Chevrolet hasn't noticed the massive hype the sixth-generation Camaro has generated should think again. We're pretty sure GM is well aware of the Camaro's potential. How else would they back up a 2016 Camaro Convertible pricing increase of up to six grand?
We can not talk about the full pricing of the 2016 Camaro Convertible, thanks to the ordering guides landing in the hands of CarsDirect.

The easiest way to grab yourself an open-air Camaro is to go for the turbo four (275 hp, 295 lb-ft) using the 1LT equipment level. This will set you back $33,695, which can be translated into a $1,495 boost (no pun intended) over the price of a 2015 model.

Truth be told, last year's base Camaro Convertible came with a V6. If you want to grab one of those in 2016 trim (335 hp, 284 lb-ft), be prepared to spend at least $35,190, or $2,990 more than for the 2015 model.

As for the Corvette-engined Camaro Convertible (455 hp, 455 lb-ft), you can have an SS starting at $44,295 (1SS model), which means you'll pay a premium of $3,795.

As for the massive increase mentioned in the intro, that covers the 2016 Camaro Convertible 2SS, whose MSRP sits at $49,295 (to be more precise, the price jump sits at $5,895).

Talk about confidence - the almost fifty grand you'll have to spend on the range-topping Camaro Convertible mean you could scrap the convertible plan, add $700 and grab Mustang Shelby GT350. Or you can get access to the Porsche world by adding $3,800 to the price of the Camaro Convertible and grabbing a Boxster.

With the Chevrolet Camaro now adding sportscar handling to the classic pony/muscle car recipe and determining us to ask whether the SS delivers more power to the wheels than the C7 Corvette, the aggressive pricing shouldn't come as a surprise. And given the different financial positioning of the Camaro and the Mustang, we can only be thrilled by the wider range of choices.
