In the wonderful world of all-American pony and muscle cars, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is the fuzz right now. A little under a month from now on we will see the all-new generation of the Camaro debut in Detroit but until that moment comes, we’re only left with a set of renderings.
Digital artist chazcron is no stranger to autoevolution as we covered his pixel work on the 2016 Camaro time and time again. Apparently, drawing the coupe based of spy photos on so many occasions got chazcron bored, the reason why the man recently focused on imagining how the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro convertible could look like.

In a nutshell, chazcron did an excellent job in digitally hacking the roof off the sixth-gen Camaro. As you can see from the rendering-laden gallery below, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro convertible is more hawkish than its coupe counterpart. It looks like it’s up to no good, smoking its rear tires every time the lights turn green.

Speaking of smoking, the Chevy small-block V8 turns 60 this year, the age that determines the time for retirement for most people. However, the Camaro's 6.2-liter small-block V8 isn’t ready to kick the bucket just yet. For the all-new model the fifth-gen’s vee-eight is replaced by a C7 Corvette-derived LT1 V8. Unfortunately, it’s still a mystery whether the SS will pack 460 horsepower too.

Another Corvette-derived contraption that may find its way on the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS is the 7-speed manual, along with the Hydra-Matic 8L90 8-speed auto. Other than the eight-cylinder, enthusiasts should look to the availability of a 3.6-liter LGX V6 engine mated to the 8L45 8-speed automatic transmission, joined by a 2.0 force-fed four-banger lifted from the Cadillac parts bin.
