2016 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon Is the Cool Dad’s Family Hauler

January’s Detroit Auto Show will be the venue of debut for many automakers, both American and import. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, 2016 Chevrolet Volt and the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang may be the biggest highlights, but the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is also pretty important due to its insane specifications.

With deliveries for the sedan slated to start by mid-2015, the most powerful road-going Caddy in history is a world class machine. To put the bruiser’s credentials into perspective, let’s just say the BMW M5 Jahre Edition is 40 horsepower down on the 2016 CTS-V sedan’s 6.2-liter LT4 small-block V8.

Yup, it’s the same supercharged motor you’ll find on the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06, minus 10 hp, but with 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft (855 Nm) of torque ready to smoke the rear tires, the slight downtune doesn’t really matter if we're to be completely frank.

When fitted with factory tires, the uber Cadillac is able to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds

These numbers are possible partly because of the V8 lump hidden under the vented hood, as well as partly because of the Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic, launch control feature and the third-gen Magnetic Ride Control. As a performance sedan, this is the next big thing after the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, but wouldn’t it be nice if Caddy would offer this model in coupe and wagon formats too?

As some voices in the industry hint, the coupe may become production reality in a year’s time, but there’s nothing known about a 2016 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon. Maybe this is why pixel artist Khalil B. from Virtuel Car rendered his take on the most powerful station wagon money could buy and, to be frank, the rendering looks rather nice. Please Cadillac, make the CTS-V Wagon happen as soon as possible.
