Almost 24 hours after the Lincoln Continental got its 15 minutes of fame, the NYIAS-bound full-size luxury sedan battle heats up. GM’s most stately marque just posted a teaser photo of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 on a Stateside-based dealership’s Twitter account.
As Towell Cadillac highlights in its tweet - the covers are almost off. ’Til the white sheet comes off completely, we’re left with the adjacent picture and a plethora of exterior visual details worth mentioning.
For the 2016 Cadillac CT6 flagship luxury sedan, the manufacturer’s design team didn’t resort to go-faster chicken wire for the front grille. The chicken wire is a unique item to the 2016 ATS-V and the 2016 CTS-V.
On the CT6, we’re dealing with a more flamboyant Cadillac shield grille with active shutters and the Caddy logo sans wreaths. The headlamps appear to be a full-LED job, with the vertical LED DRL clusters integrated into the actual headlights. For this reason, the fog lights are a part of the lower radiator grille.
No words yet on the all-wheel drive option, PHEV model or the all-new “twin-turbo V8,” which we believe it will arrive in the guise of the fifth-gen LT5 small-block lump. Happily however, Cadillac confirmed that a force-fed 3.0-liter LGW V6 is going to be offered on the 2016 CT6, pushing 400 HP and 400 lb-ft (543 Nm).
An all-new 3.6-liter LGX V6 (335 HP and 284 lb-ft / 385 Nm of torque) will serve as the entry-level powerplant, paired to a similarly all-new Hydra-Matic 8L45 eight-speed automatic transmission.
