At long last, the most luxurious brand in the General Motors portfolio has announced that its flagship sedan is slated to start production in January. For the most basic of trim levels and the most anemic engine option there is, you’ll have to spend an apparently costly $53,495, sans destination and all of the other charges not included in the manufacturer's suggested retail price.
For those that tend to look on the bright side of life, the base price of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is nearly half of what Mercedes-Benz charges for the king of the large luxury sedan segment - the Sonderklasse. 53,495 of your hard-earned dollars will make you the owner of a CT6 with a rear-wheel-drive layout and a 2.0 turbocharged LTG motor under the hood.

If 272 ponies and 295 pound-feet (400 Nm) of torque aren’t enough to float your luxury sedan boat, then you might be interested in the V6-powered Cadillac CT6. The 3.6-liter naturally aspirated powerplant is similar to the one that animates the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro and it’s exclusively available in all-wheel-drive form. Even though it’s more powerful than the 2.0-liter engine at 335 HP, the LGX V6 is 10 pound-feet down on get-up-and-go compared to the four-banger motor.

This model starts at $55,495, making it a couple of grand more expensive than the entry-level choice. As for the range-topping blunderbuss, put your hands together for the 3.0-liter LGX V6. The twin-turbocharged unit is good for 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) and is available exclusively in all-wheel-drive flavor. $64,395 is what you’ll have to pay for if you want the best CT6 there is at the present moment. In the near future, Cadillac will start producing a highly-efficient plug-in hybrid variant of the CT6 sedan.

To be built at the General Motors Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 is available in four trim levels: base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Platinum. On an ending note, we hear that if you place your order at this very moment, you’ll receive your CT6 at the end of March.

If it were our money, the first thing we would do upon delivery is get in the car, start the engine, and blast The Clash’s Brand New Cadillac through the 34 speakers of the Bose audio system.
