Right after Ford teased the upcoming 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang, Cadillac replied with a new teaser clip of the highly-anticipated 2016 ATS-V Coupe. As previously suspected, there is a lot of turbocharging fizz hiding under the vented bonnet of the mongrel.
Why mongrel? Because as opposed to main rival BMW M4, this Caddy meets performance and luxury halfway, but it’s not that big of a deal frankly. Something really big is a rather interesting discovery we've made after watching the teaser clip below.
Before the left rear tire starts peeling and smoke itself through death by burnout, it is clear as day this Caddy is fitted with a braking system that uses conventional steel brakes. Considering the carparazzi spied a production-ready ATS-V Coupe wearing carbon ceramic brakes back in October, the latter stopping power will be offered as a costly option.
The most performance-oriented variant of the GM Alpha platform-underpinned ATS also employs the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, but the figures on this occasion will mirror those of the M3/M4 in the worst case scenario. It would be nice if Caddy would offer it with the Hydra-Matic 8L90 fast-shifting eight-speed automatic, but our guess it that an uprated Aisin eight-speed auto will take care of cog-swapping duties.
The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe will be unveiled on November 18th at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

It’s anybody’s guess about how much the carbon brakes option will cost...
...but the M carbon ceramic brakes of the BMW M4 are a hefty $8,150, which means Cadillac will price this bit of kit at a smudge over $5,000 or so. Mind you, the 2016 ATS-V Coupe will certainly be far better priced than the precision machine from Germany. With the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe 3.6L Premium AWD priced from $51,435, we expect its rabid 2016 ATS-V brother to fetch something like $59,000 or so.The most performance-oriented variant of the GM Alpha platform-underpinned ATS also employs the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6, but the figures on this occasion will mirror those of the M3/M4 in the worst case scenario.
