As sporty as its name might sound, don't get ahead of yourselves and expect too much from the Encore Sport Touring, despite the comprehensive list of changes operated by Buick on this one.

For starters, the exterior was adorned with a winged rear spoiler, 18-inch aluminum premium-finish wheels, and body-color door handles.

Also, the car's internal organs bring updates, especially the 1.4-liter turbo engine. Using direct injection, engineers managed to generate 11 percent more horsepower and nearly 20 percent more torque than the Encore’s standard engine can deliver.

As a result, power output is rated at 153 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque (240 Nm). Fuel consumption gets a new ally dressed as the automatic engine start/stop function.

Buick tells us there's room for five inside the Encore (sold as the Opel/Vauxhall Mokka in Europe), plus up to 48.4 cubic feet (1,371 liters) of storage space together with a flat-folding front passenger seat that extends the cargo length and eases storage for items up to eight feet long. Also, the tech pack on the crossover received new gizmos.

For example, the cabin is kept out of noise's way courtesy of QuietTuning with Bose Active Noise Cancellation technology, ten airbags - including side curtain and knee airbags - keep the safety side covered while the IntelliLink voice-activated infotainment system offers a seven-inch, high-res display.

Moreover, the Convenience Package is delivered free of charge so that buyers can enjoy spoils like the dual-zone climate control and remote start, but all-wheel drive, a premium Bose audio system come as optional equipment.

What we don't get at this point is pricing info, but this detail should surface in the following months since the Buick Encore Sport Touring will go on sale this fall.
