Here we go again. After the Nurburgring management said that they would impose speed limits on the famous track and claiming that lap times would be banned, a new report claims that the 2016 BMW X6 M just posted an 8:20 run.
According to BimmerToday, the guys from Auto Zeitung took one of the huge Sport Activity Coupes BMW makes these days and lapped it around the Green Hell. Apparently, their best time was around 8:20 seconds which is not impressive at all.

The 2.3-ton car is therefore slower than an Audi RS3 for example and we won’t even get into the Porsche Cayenne territory since the GTS version of that car was seemingly faster at 8:19 back in 2012. The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S will probably go a lot faster still.

Even so, the X6 M held its ground honorably, considering its size. The 4.4-liter V8 with its 575 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque is quite potent apparently and transformed the SUV in a car that is close in performance to the E46 M3 (8:22).

Just for comparison's sake (even though considering the speed restrictions it's hard to say how fast the X6 M actually is around the Nurburgring), the BMW M135i is known to have achieved a lap time of 8:18 while the old X6 M was clocked at 8 minutes 24 seconds around the same track.

That being said, we should also keep in mind that changing the driver and the conditions might help. Until we get an official lap time though, this one will have to do.
