Right when the world was celebrating the passing between 2014 and 2015 photos of the upcoming BMW 7 Series leaked online thanks to a keen photographer that happened to be in the right spot at the right time. In case you missed it, we’ll remind you that the front and rear ends of the car were completely revealed leaving some people utterly disappointed.
However, we still couldn’t get a proper view at the side of the car and that problem was just solved today as another sneaky photographer published a photo of the 7er online, without camo.

To be perfectly frank, there are no major surprises on the sides of the car. When the Vision Future Luxury concept was first launched, we knew that the upcoming 7 Series will be based on it. Of course, we expected a lot more bits and pieces from the concept to make their way to the production car but in the end we were a bit more disappointed.

There is one element on the car that was kept on though, nearly the same: a chrome strip going from the front fender all the way to the back. As you can tell, it’s probably highlighting the front fender side gills that are supposed to make the car more aerodynamic and efficient at the same time.

Other than that, we have to admit the taillights remind us a bit too much of the F01 facelift version and seem to be just ever so slightly reshaped. At the same time, the Hoffmeister kink is still where it’s supposed to be, and the rear door does look a bit longer than expected. Maybe this was the long-wheelbase model.

Disappointed? Well, we’ll just have to wait for the car to be unveiled in full at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year. Maybe the design is not all that brilliant but there will be considerable advancements introduced in the form of tech bits.

The car will have air suspension for both axles with self-leveling, a new driving mode that adjusts itself depending on how you drive the car, gesture recognition control and laser headlights. That’s just to name a few. What makes the new 7 Series even more exciting is the fact that it will also offer this kind of tech for other cars down the road.
