While we’re waiting for the Frankfurt Motor Show to see the new BMW G11 7 Series in the metal, some lucky people will get to enjoy it today. That’s right, the Germans are setting up the event as we speak, where some lucky guests will take a look at the company’s latest flagship.
The info comes from a member of famous BMW forum, Bimmerpost, that claims he has been invited to the venue. If we’re to believe his car ownership history, he’s more than entitled to be one of the first customers in the world to see the car.

That’s because apparently he bought a V8-powered 7er every four or so years since 2002. Starting off with a 2002 745iL to a 2006, 750Li, a 2010 750 and then a 2014 750Li version later on. According to his post, he also had a 3 Series and several 5 Series before so yes, this man is a true BMW fan.

Unfortunately, he won’t be allowed to take any pics or record a video of the whole thing, as expected, but even so, there is some good news here. First of all, this presentation says that the car is ready and that we’ll also get to see it in no time, no matter whether online or in the metal.

That also means that the new 7er will be unveiled at the latest in September at Frankfurt. To be honest, we think we could see it even sooner but we can’t confirm anything just yet.

Even without having an official press release though, we can already tell you a couple of things about the new 7 Series. It will be built using lightweight materials to help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. On top of that, it will be using new-age engines of the B family, ranging from 2-liter 4-cylinder units to 3-liter inline sixes and even V8s and V12. Yes, the 760Li model will be kept on for now.

The interior is supposed to be a step up in terms of refinement and materials used while the technology included should be segment-leading. That includes 3D gesture recognition, touch-sensitive screens that communicate with each other, augmented reality and so on. Autonomous tech should also be included, allowing you to park your car by using your key fob.

It all sounds extremely enticing, but we’ll just have to wait and see exactly how many of these rumors will come true.
