Ladies and gentlemen, 2015 came with a full reveal of the production version of the G11 7 Series and we have to admit we’re rather disappointed in what we’re looking at here. After teasing us with the Vision Future Luxury concept, it seems like BMW decided to go with an evolutionary design on their new flagship instead of a new radical version.

The truth of the matter is from the back it looks like an upgraded Volkswagen Jetta and that’s not even the half of it. The level of disappointment this editor is experiencing right now is downright depressing.

Up front we can notice the new headlight design that falls in the BMW pattern of late, with the headlights connected to the kidney grilles but it’s not nearly as good looking as we expected it to be. Admittedly, the lamps do seem to be equipped with laser lights, as promised but that doesn’t make things any better.

Round the back, the styling includes a taller boot than expected and the bumper features trapezoidal exhaust tips. The one we’re looking at here thanks to the guys from Autobuzz.be seems to be wearing the M Sport package so the other alternatives might be better. Not by far though.

Inside, the design seems to be more of an evolution and the second screen for the passenger, the one that is supposed to communicate with the driver’s screen is completely missing.

Hopefully, the technology imbued in it will make up for some of its downsides in the looks department. Weight will be reduced by a considerable amount and the driving dynamics should be class leading.

Couple that with the new engines and we might have a true driver’s car. But who in the executive segment cares about that?
