As far as this one editor knows, the segment in which the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class play never had one model go down the Touring path. The reasons behind this way of doing business are rather obvious and in your face, the ‘lack of a proper market’ being probably the most important.
However, one can’t but wonder how such creations would look like, right? Probably inspired by the rumors about an M3 Touring, another car that seems impossible to be built, the guys from X-Tomi Design put together a rendering of a BMW 7 Series in Touring guise.

The quality of the rendering is quite high and its accuracy is more than impressive. All the cues are in the right place and, truth be told, if we hadn’t seen this thing on his website, we might’ve thought it was the real deal.

But then again, as good as it looks, do you really think there would be a market for this car? Who would want a Touring 7 Series? People that usually spend in excess of 100k on a car are wealthy enough to have chauffeurs, let alone a second car to carry their luggage.

From a luxury/space point of view, this would probably be the best offering BMW would have on the table. We recently sat down in the new 7 Series and the rear seats get plenty of room, not to mention all the luxurious amenities and upscale materials used in there.

As a matter of fact, all of this is about to come true in the shape of the new X7. That’s right, BMW said it over and over again that their new SUV will offer more space and luxury than any other car they previously offered.

As a matter of fact, we even saw the first mules for the upcoming SUV out testing and they were using the 7 Series as a basis. To top everything off, we know for a fact that both cars will be using the 35up platform that will house all future rear-wheel drive cars bigger than the 3 Series.
