The initial trailer for Tom Cruise’s latest Mission Impossible movie stirred up some interest on behalf of BMW fans because the new M3 was featured in it, hinting at yet another collaboration between the movie franchise and the manufacturer.
However, those following our blog knew beforehand that the crew used plenty of M3s to film action scenes. How come? Well, we spotted the wrecked cars being carried away from the set after the stunt drivers were done with them and let you know.

Later on, when the initial trailer showed up, our suggestions were confirmed. Then, we spotted another short clip in which BMW showcased its latest X5 version, the plug-in hybrid xDrive40e and we knew that something was definitely up.

Now, the Mission Impossible crew released yet another short video, this time focusing on the new 3 Series facelift and its M3 brother. While the 3er received new front and rear styling cues, the M car was updated only at one end, getting new taillights.

As for the facelifted 3er, we have to say that it looks good on camera. The styling changes are subtle but they do make a big difference. However, he biggest differences can be found under the bonnet as the new cars get new engines.

The most important plant of the range seems to be the new 3-liter inline 6-cylinder B58 one that will be replacing the N55 unit. It makes 326 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque in its standard application but according to BMW it is capable of a lot more. Until we get to see what that means, let’s take a look at the 2016 3 Series LCI in the Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation universe.
