2016 Audi S8 plus Returns in Two Trailer Videos, Lets Us Hear the 605 HP Engine

The S8 plus is currently Audi's fastest production sedan model and after its debut last week, the S63 AMG rival returns to let us catch a second glimpse. It has almost as much power as the R8 supercar and slightly more torque.

This time around, we have a coupé of videos from Audi to show you what your heard-earned money might buy. One clip is a trailer with moving music as its background while the other features regular footage. If you wanted to know how a 605 horsepower 4-liter engine sounds like, now's your chance.

As we suspected, the S8 plus looks discrete. The cosmetic differences between it and the regular A8 are so small that you'd need a fan of the brand to tell the difference. The red S badge sits on top of a blacked out grille, being the first indication of the performance on offer.

From 0 to 100 km/h, this car takes only 3.8 seconds, while the electronic limiter can be lifted. When that happens, the 4-liter twin-turbo engine is capable of pushing this 2-ton luxury car to 189.5 mph (305 km/h).

As you would expect, the price of this ultimate Audi sedan is steep. It costs €145,200 in Germany where it will go on sale this November. That places it dangerously close to the €152,000 Mercedes-AMG S63 limousine and its Panamera Turbo counterpart from Porsche.

As standard, the plus offers more kit than the standard S8, including carbon fiber reinforced ceramic brakes with anthracite gray calipers and adaptive sports air suspension.

Whenever we feel really excited about a new Audi, we like to remind ourselves about one particular older model, the previous RS6 Avant. That car had 580 horsepower from a twin-turbo V10 and in plus form could reach 188 mph (303 km/h). It's just like Kanye West says, they don't make 'em like that anymore!
