2015 Zero S Features, Specs and Price Revealed

The battery packs enough juice for 100 miles (160 km) of highway fun, and what’s even cooler, it will last more than 300,000 miles (482,000 km). A smaller and cheaper ZF9.4 battery is also available, with the figured obviously indicating the kWh capacity. High-density cells, constant monitoring and a bountiful life cycle are also on the menu. The bike's air-cooled motor can produce 68 ft-lb (92 Nm) right off idle and a max power of 54 hp. The top speed is 95 mph (153 km/h) but riders will be able to travel at a sustained speed of 80 mph (129 km/h).

Showa and Bosch magic

Zero cut no corners when dealing with performance and safety. The aircraft-grade aluminium twin-spar frame has a low center of gravity for excellent maneuverability, and has been designed to accommodate a lockable and removable storage compartment for increased functionality.

The frame sits on Showa suspensions, a 41mm inverted cartridge fork with adjustable spring preload, compression and rebound damping, complemented by a 40mm piston piggy-back reservoir rear shock with adjustable spring preload, compression and rebound damping. The 17”cast wheels are show with Pirelli Sport Demon tires and the 320mm/240mm rotors are squeezed by J-Juan calipers. The braking system also includes 9th generation Bosch ABS.

The 31.8” (807mm) seat height makes the 2015 Zero S a reassuring ride for most motorcyclists, while the new and less experienced ones will definitely love the clutchless, direct drive transmission and the maintenance-free belt final drive. Depending on the size of the battery, the 2015 Zero S costs between $1 and $1.7 to recharge and offers the equivalent of 554 mpg (0.5 l/100 km) in the city and double that figure on the highway.

The 2015 Zero S is available for prices starting at $13,435, with the Power Tank and the Quick Charge options offered for some extra dough. If you're in Europe, you can get this bike for prices starting in the ballpark of €13,610 (Germany).
