Volkswagen has continued its relentless model update campaign today with a facelift for the 2015 Sharan, an MPV that we love to hate. Below, you can check out live photos of the Sharan in all its facelifted glory from the Geneva Motor Show 2015.
Sure, it still looks as boring as a cardboard box with lights on it, but the tech upgrades they've brought make this an appealing ownership proposition, especially since the French rivals don't have the same kind of powerful engines.

Starting with the petrol range, the 1.4 TSI with 150 PS has been introduced. It's one of our favorites and it could be a good match for the Sharan. You can even have the Sharan with the 220 PS 2-liter turbo from a Golf GTI. That should make it a match for the BMW 225i Active Tourer. Three diesels are also available, starting with a 115 HP 1.6 unit and followed by 150 HP and 184 HP versions of the 2.0 TDI. Volkswagen says that up to 15% better fuel economy can be expected compared to pre-facelift models.

The DSG transmission is standard with the top TSI engine with 220 PS. As an option, the 150 PS TDI engine is also available with 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

New safety systems added to the Sharan will make it more appealing to family car buyers. They include Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert. As standard, the VW also comes with new Automatic Post-Collision Braking system, which steps on the brakes in the event of a crash to prevent you from rolling away while unconcious.

Cosmetically speaking, the changes are minimal. At the front, we see bi-xenon projectors with a U-shaped daytime running light ensamble. That's not as impressive as the changes made to the taillights, which are now full-LED and look just like the ones on the Passat.

The interior is upgraded with more sophisticated accents and materials as well as enhanced instrumentation. We think the fake wood trim is rather silly, but the steering wheel and infotainment system from the Golf are very welcomed features. A completely new range of infotaimnet systems is being offered and for the first time they feature Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. Volkswagen's excellent MirrorLink phone pairing system is also offered.

The launch of the 2015 Sharan will take place in July, when only limited edition models with extra kit and trim, called Sharan Beach and Sharan Ocean, will be available.
