Volkswagen made it clear recently that it's not going to give up on the Scirocco coupe, despite slow demand. A facelift was introduced, and all of the features from that make the GTS look fashionable, despite its age.

The distinctive two-tone grey paintjob coupled with GTS badging help it stand out. The new Scirocco also has fresh 18-inch Norwich alloys, with19-inch Lugano ones being available as well. Thanks to the body bits from the R-Line kit, every air vent and bumper looks that little bit more aggressive.

Our favorite view is from the rear (3-quarters), where the fake air vents in the bumper and those new full-LED taillights just look "the business". Unfortunately, you don't get as nice an exhaust system as on the GTI or 'Rocco R.

Under the bonnet, we find a new 2-liter turbo engine. It makes 220 PS, which means this relatively old platform now boasts the same power output as a Golf 7 GTI. Coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox or optional DSG, it allows the hot coupe to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds before topping out at 244 km/h (246 km/h).

Just in case you don't like grey that much, Volkswagen also offers the Scirocco GTS in Flash Red, Pure White, Oryx White and Deep Black. The cabin shows quite a few elements from the latest Golfs, including a multi-functional flat-bottomed steering wheel.

The GTS also benefits from the Composition Color infotainment system, stainless steel pedals, a GTI-like golf ball shifter and striped seats.
