Car commercials for 4x4, large or small, usually involve going off the beaten path and staring danger in the face. However, knowing how good their new Touareg is, Volkswagen decided to go the exact opposite direction, telling us what the model can do without actually showing it. Why? Because it's such a shame to get it dirty.
Refreshingly different from the competition, the new Volkswagen Touareg ad says this SUV can do the muddy, dirty stuff, if only the driver wanted!
These two videos are just the last part of a new marketing campaign called "Ready for whatever", which includes web and print specials. As an example of its thinking, VW believe that "the probability of a meteor strike is roughly 0.2 percent" and has prepared for such a situation, as well as an earthquake, alien invasion or the return of the dinosaurs. Their words… not ours…

What's the 2015 Touareg all about?
This fall, Volkswagen is launching the mid-life facelift for its big SUV model. Updates include new front and rear bumper designs, the availability of an R-Line sports body kit and all-new Euro 6 engines.
The Touareg TDI facelift is available with Air Suspension. In offroad conditions, this can increase the ground clearance by up to 300mm (12 inches). At highway speeds (140 km/h and above) the air suspension automatically lowers the vehicle’s body, giving you more car-like handling.
Available engines include two versions of the 3.0 TDI V6 mill with either 204 or 262 PS, a larger V8 TDI and a hybrid. This mates a 333 PS V6 petrol engine to a 52 PS electric motor, resulting in a total output of 380 PS. Consumption is just 8.2 l/100 km (equates to 193 g/km CO2). It can also drive at speeds of up to 50 km/h (31 mph) in all-electric mode.
