German automaker Volkswagen is reportedly mulling new variants for the next Tiguan crossover SUV, which is rumored to be launched in late 2014.
According to Autobild, the new Volkswagen Tiguan could gain a three-door coupe version with sportier design and a sloping roofline. Moreover, the five-door variant will be available with either a short or a long wheelbase, the latter to receive longer rear doors and additional side windows.
From the same rumor mill we learned that the 2015 Tiguan lineup could also include hybrid and BlueMotion powertrains among gasoline and diesel choices. Speaking of gasoline, the crossover should arrive with 1.4 and 1.8-liter units, producing between 140 and 220 HP, while diesel options ought to include 1.6 and 2.0-liter TDI mills, with between 110 and 204 HP.
As you might have guessed, the above-mentioned version won’t hit the market at the same time. Autobild suggest that the new Tiguan will go on sale in late 2014, while the coupe and the long-wheel-based four-door won’t arrive in dealerships until 2015.
